A travel eSIM is a digital SIM: instead of putting a plastic chip in your phone, you install it from the phone itself, in a minute. It gives you mobile data abroad at a local price, with no roaming from your carrier and without removing your usual SIM.
How a travel eSIM works
- Choose the destination and the plan (for example, 3 GB for 30 days) and pay the final price, VAT included.
- You get the eSIM by email and on your order page, in under a minute.
- Install it before you travel, on Wi-Fi: on iPhone with one tap, on Android with a code, or by scanning a QR from another screen. The steps are in the installation guide.
- When you arrive, choose the eSIM as your data line and turn on data roaming for it. The plan starts when you first connect there, not when you buy or install it.
Your usual SIM stays in the phone, with your number for calls and SMS. WhatsApp keeps working with your usual number: see WhatsApp and your number.
eSIM, roaming, local SIM or pocket Wi-Fi
Travel eSIM
You pay a local plan's price before you leave, install it at home, and your number stays in the phone. No extra device to charge.
Your carrier's roaming
Nothing to do, but outside your home region it is usually expensive or very limited.
Local physical SIM
It can be cheap, but you have to find a shop on arrival, sometimes with your passport, and swap your SIM for it.
Pocket Wi-Fi
A router you rent by the day, with a deposit, that you have to collect, charge and return.
What a Bidaiesim eSIM includes
- Data only: no number or SMS. You call over WhatsApp, FaceTime or another app.
- Hotspot: share the data from your phone with your laptop or the people you travel with.
- Top-ups: on plans that allow it, add more data to the same eSIM while it is valid, even if you have used it all.
- One-click refund from your order, until you install it.
- Local networks: each destination names its carriers and whether it has 5G.
An honest note: depending on the plan, your connection may reach the internet from another country (each destination says so). Browsing, maps and messaging work the same; a banking or TV app may see you in that other country.
How to choose your plan
- How much data: for a week, 1 GB is enough for messages and maps; with normal use (messages, maps and some social media every day), 3 to 5 GB; with social media and video every day, about 10 GB. Work it out in a minute with the data calculator.
- How many days: pick a plan that covers the whole trip; if it falls short, top up.
- One or several countries: for one country, its plan; for several on the same trip, a regional plan (Europe, Asia, Latin America…).
- Your phone: check it supports eSIM and is not locked to your carrier in eSIM compatible phones.
Questions
Can I install it before I travel?
Yes, and it is best to: on Wi-Fi, with time. The plan does not start until you connect at the destination.
Do I lose my number?
No. Your usual SIM stays in the phone for calls and SMS.
What if I end up not travelling?
As long as you have not installed it, we refund it in one click from your order.
Can I use it in several countries?
With a regional plan, yes: each plan says which countries it covers.
