In Japan your phone connects to NTT docomo, Rakuten Mobile or KDDI/au. That is the name you will see in the status bar: it will never say Bidaiesim, because the eSIM uses the country’s local networks.

The country your IP is in

Even while you are in Japan, your connection reaches the internet in Hong Kong. That is how the wholesale operator routes it, and it works the same way on every travel eSIM, not only ours. It can affect streaming, online banking and verification codes.

When the days start counting

Install it at home, unhurried: the plan does not start counting until your first connection to a network in Japan. Unactivated, the eSIM can be installed for 180 days from purchase.
